Switch to the good side every first Sunday of the month!

Digital Independence Day (DI.DAY) is an international movement promoting greater digital sovereignty.

On the first Sunday of every month, Save Social promotes digital self-determination via its central website, di.day, and through decentralised events organised by numerous partner organisations worldwide. The aim is to work together to switch to alternatives that are pro-democracy and compliant with data protection regulations – for example, through ‘switching cafés’, workshops or local meetings in cities such as Berlin, Nuremberg, Warendorf, Ireland or Colorado, USA. Co-operating partners include, amongst others, Robin Wood, the Society for Information, the German Journalists’ Association (DJV), Digitalcourage, The Document Foundation and local groups of the Chaos Computer Club (CCC).

The platform offers an events calendar to help people find or organise events themselves, and invites associations, libraries and local communities to get involved.

    Hello everyone. This will be a short one. I’ve been away because stuff are happening. But I wanted to add a little comment on something that I’ve been thinking about. You may or may not know of DIDay, or Digital Independence Day. It is a young initiative, born within the 39th Chaos Communications Congress in December 2025 in Hamburg. Now I wasn’t at the exact lecture where this happened, but I was at the congress, and I heard it echoed in other talks. Chaos people are resourceful so soon there was a website, there were Fediverse hashtags and the first local groups were organizing events.
