Who we are

A strong Network

Save Social is a dedicated network of civil society organisations and individuals working together to champion freedom, democracy, and improved social networks. This network is coordinated by the non-profit organisation Save Social – Networks for Democracy, which is based in Hamburg. The organisation was founded following the huge success of a petition, whose text still sets out the principles and objectives of Save Social’s work to this day.

Our Advisory Board

Our ten-member advisory board represents a range of perspectives and advises the charity at regular meetings: the advisory board meets at least twice a year and elects two spokespersons from among its members, who also support Save Social in the intervening period. Sandra Goldschmidt and Martin Andree currently hold these roles.

Our Values

Save Social – Networks For Democracy is committed to safeguarding the democratic power of social media – and thereby protecting our democracy.

  • Freedom

We advocate for an internet that operates without censorship, barriers or closed systems. Everyone must be free to share and access information.

  • Diversity

Rather than being dominated by a handful of monopolies, the internet should make a wide range of different opinions, voices and platforms audible and visible.

  • Competition

The power of the big tech companies prevents the emergence of a fair market in which innovative alternatives and smaller providers have a genuine chance.

  • Independence

Protecting freedom, diversity and competition lies at the heart of our democracies. Therefore, Save Social operates on a non-partisan basis, independent of any particular interests.

  • Connection

We bring people together, both online and in person, so they can collaborate to create better digital spaces for information and debate.

  • Hope

We take a constructive approach and believe in the power of change. We are happy to draw upon hope as a tool. We create solutions, not problems.

The Team

A small team coordinates the Save Social network. We look forward to hearing from you.
